3D Printing Rapid Prototyping, PolyJet 3D Printing - ProtoCAM

3D printing rapid prototyping is a 3D printing process for low quantities of rubber-like parts quickly. Lead times for 3d prototype printing are typically 3-5 days. Prototype 3D printing uses PolyJet technology to extrude a photo polymer from a printhead and cure it with a UV lamp. Benefits of PolyJet 3D Printing The main advantage of this 3D printing process is the fine layer thickness in the Z dimension, allows small features along sidewalls and upfacing surfaces. It can use a wider range of materials, including the low durometer rubber-like TangoBlack and TangoGrey. 3D printing is a relatively inexpensive rapid prototyping technology. 3D product printing is well-suited for parts with extremely fine detail that cannot be captured with stereolithography (SLA) or other rapid prototyping techniques. Hence the reason why "rapid prototyping" - the fast preparation of prototypes or concept models - has become increasingly important in the design process. The speed of prototyping can be increased either by increasing the speed of the machines or by increasing the speed of the communication process. Materialise, a company specialising in rapid prototyping, has combined both and came up with a unique concept. Materialise had the simple idea of combining "high speed" stereo lithography with the Internet. With their "Next Day" software generating a prototype becomes as easy as pressing the "print" button on a network printer.
