Pacific Lumber Inspection Bureau - Wood Packaging Material Program
In the U.S., PLIB is accredited by the American Lumber Standard Committee (ALSC) to provide monitoring and auditing of wood packaging (pallets, crates, box manufacturing facilities. Under the WPM program, PLIB monitors the conformance of approved wood packaging facilities to the ALSC WPM program and the International Standard of Plant Management (ISPM) No. 15, "Guidelines for Regulating Wood Packaging Material in International Trade". The ALSC WPM program operates under a Memorandum of Understanding with the USDA Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). In Canada, certification and of wood packaging facilities is conducted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). CFIA has authorized Canadian Lumber Standards Accreditation Board (CLSAB) and the Canadian Wooden Pallet and Container Association to monitor the program. CLS has accredited PLIB to monitor and audit those facilities that are both producing wood packaging and wood or wood products.
